The Friends are pleased to announce the completion of a successful partnership project with the Park with the installation of interpretive wayside exhibits at Sulphur Banks. |
|
The Sulphur Banks collaboration is an example of a job that neither the Park nor the Friends could execute alone. In this case, the Park funded the development and installation of exhibits illustrated by local artist Kathleen Kam, while the Friends paid the cost of producing these waysides that have to be especially fabricated to withstand the Park’s sulfurous atmosphere and intense U-V radiation. The result is a beautifully interpreted walk along a boardwalk that protects the Sulphur Banks and conveys the story of the collapse of the summit of Kīlauea and formation of this remarkable site. |
